I am looking at how stimuli from multiple sensory modalities work together or oppose each other in their influence on saccadic choices. The task includes visual and auditory stimuli that occur either congruently or incongruently. When the visual and auditory stimuli appear on the same side of the fixation point, we are able to determine if these signals cooperate to improve the speed and accuracy of saccadic choices. When the multisensory stimuli appear on opposite sides of fixation, we are able to study how one modality captures attention and impacts oculomotor decisions driven primarily by the other modality.
